Paddy Gibney - April 19, 2005

Paddy has been a lifelong music fan, although sports dominated his life until 1989. His soccer coach loaned him a guitar and Paddy taught himself some chords. His desire to learn guitar came from his love of Irish traditional music and contemporary artists such as U2 and R.E.M. Paddy names them among his musical influences, along with songwriters such as Sting and Van Morrison. His influences, however, are subconscious; he is working to achieve a unique sound and approach as an artist. His lyrical influences can come from poetry, books, or conversation.

Paddy began his musical career as a solo act in the early nineties. He was joined by Bill Ayerbe in March 1998. Bill actually met Paddy in a local pub where he stopped in for a drink after a symphony rehearsal. Paddy & Bill performed as an extremely popular duo until September 2011. The both of them are still very active in the local music scene in and around Fayetteville North Carolina.

Paddy & Bill have recorded four CD albums, one CD single, and one audio cassette. The audio cassette, Live At The Shanakee, was recorded live at the Shanakee Irish Pub in Wilmington, North Carolina. Live At The Shanakee was reissued in 2010 as a CD. Their first CD, Live At The Radisson, was recorded live at Babe's Lounge in the Radisson Prince Charles Hotel in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The third CD, One Drunken Night, was recorded live at Coaches Sports Grill in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Their fourth CD, Uncircumcised - Live and Uncut, was released on St Patrick's Day 2005. It was recorded live at Wheeler's on November 19, 2004. All these albums consist of covers, Irish traditionals, and pub songs. Their second CD, Live-Love-Now, is an album of all Paddy Gibney originals.

In February 2007 Paddy opened his own pub, Paddy's Irish Public House, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. It has become one of the favorites in the area.
